Refunds and disputes
UniSell holds your payment until the handover, so the money only reaches the seller once you have what you paid for. Refunds always go back to your UniSell wallet in full, and you can withdraw your wallet to your bank at any time.
Items from other students
- Before you pay: either of you can cancel. Nothing has been charged.
- After you pay, before the handover:either of you can ask to cancel from the order page. If the other side agrees, you get everything back, the item price and UniSell’s fee, and the item goes back on the board. If you can’t agree, UniSell looks at it and decides.
- At the handover:check the item before you show your handover code. Showing the code and confirming means you accept the item as it is, and the sale is final. UniSell doesn’t refund an item after the handover, except in cases of fraud.
- If nobody confirms: an order completes on its own 7 days after payment, and the seller is paid, unless a cancellation has been asked for. If something has gone wrong, ask to cancel before then.
Campus Eats
- Food is final once you collect it. Confirm pickup on your order and the stall is paid.
- If the stall can’t make your order, it refunds you, in full, to your wallet.
- If you didn’t get your food, tap “Didn’t get it? Report a problem” on your order. The stall isn’t paid until UniSell has looked into it, and if you didn’t get it, you get a full refund.
- If you do neither, the order completes on its own 7 days after you paid.
Uni-haps tickets
- UniSell holds ticket money until after the event. The organiser is paid overnight once 48 hours have passed since it ended.
- If the event is cancelled, every ticket is refunded in full to your wallet, automatically. Organisers can’t cancel once the event has started.
- If the event is postponed, it can only move later, and you get 7 days (or until it starts, if that’s sooner) to take a full refund from the event page if the new date doesn’t work for you.
- If it didn’t happen as promised, report a paid ticket from the event page any time from the start until 48 hours after it ends. The organiser isn’t paid until UniSell has looked into it, and if your report holds up, everyone is refunded.
How a dispute works
For an item that’s been paid for but not handed over yet:
- AEither of you asks to cancel from the order page, and can say why.
- BIf the other side agrees, the buyer gets everything back.
- CIf they turn it down or don’t answer, a person on our team decides: a full refund, or the sale goes ahead and the seller is paid. You’ll both hear in Notices.
Paid twice, or paid for something that sold
If a payment goes through for an order that can’t take it (the item sold to someone else first, or you paid twice), the full amount goes straight back to your wallet, automatically.
Paid outside the app
Cash, bank transfers, DuitNow or any deposit paid straight to the other person never passes through UniSell, so we can’t hold it or get it back. Pay in the app, and never send a deposit before you meet.
